Ronald McDonald’s Walk For Kids

Grab some french fries and your walking shoes and meet us at The Rose Bowl!

Team Charm has your weekend plans covered, and it involves getting outside to soak up the Pasadena sunshine, supporting an incredible local organization, and yes – french fries!

We’re talking about The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California’s (RMHCSC) annual Walk for Kids fundraiser. It’s happening this Saturday, April 30th at The Rose Bowl and I am proudly and passionately partnering with them to raise money and awareness. I’d love it if you tagged along – sign up here!

The RMHCSC annual 5k fundraiser aids the families of sick children in the Southern California area who must travel outside of their communities to access long-term medical treatment at local hospitals. They provide relief by covering transportation, accommodations, support and care to these families. Their goal is to create a community where children and their loved ones embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, courage, and joy.

One of the biggest ways they do this is through their Ronald McDonald Houses which are strategically located adjacent to major hospitals and offer long-term stays to children and their families. There are more than 377 Ronald McDonald House programs operating in 45 countries and regions around the world, one of which is situated right here in Pasadena.

A few weeks ago, RMHCSC kindly invited me to check-out their Pasadena location. A warm and welcoming home situated on Pasadena Avenue, The Ronald McDonald House boasts 17 guest bedrooms, and a fabulously hospitable staff, that has helped over 24,000 families since opening in 2004. It’s located right across the street from Huntington Hospital and Shriners for Children Medical Center making it incredibly convenient for check-ups and visits. See a quick tour here!

The loveliest part of the whole experience was chatting with the staff. It’s clear that they are passionate about creating a fun, happy, and loving experience for these children and families that are going through a very emotionally taxing period of life. In fact, I realized that oftentimes, it’s not just the sick children that need care, it’s their parents, families, and loved ones.

So how can you get involved? Here’s a few options:

Join our team. Sign up for our team named “TEAM CHARM” and walk with us Saturday Morning. You can register using this link and offer a donation if you’d like.

Spread the word. Invite your friends, your friend’s friends, your family, and your coworkers – the more the merrier. Direct them to sign up and donate using the link provided here.

Swing by your local Mickey D’s. If you can’t make it to the walk, do your best to stop by a Southern California McDonalds to give $1, $2 or $3 at the register, in the drive-thru and/or by rounding up your total order to the nearest dollar with the difference.

It makes my heart happy to support our charming community and I hope you’ll join “TEAM CHARM” at WalkForKids.org.

Xo,

Taryn.
