Following The WESCOM Float to the 131st Rose Parade

Tournament of Roses House, 391 S. Orange Grove Blvd. Pasadena, CA 91105

Charm Alert. I’m so excited to partner with Wescom to showcase their float design in the 2020 Rose Parade® presented by Honda with the theme, “Better Together: Hope Creates Community.” The Charm Team will be following the journey of the Wescom float all the way to the 131st Rose Parade taking place on January 1st, 2020 in Pasadena, California.

The annual parade, which was first held in 1890, is a great way to ring in the new year with your loved ones. Almost a million people line the streets of Pasadena each year to see the floral floats go by. It’s quite a magical experience witnessing a long-standing tradition that truly showcases the beauty of Pasadena.

We have been a member of the Pasadena Wescom branch since 2012 and I’ve been working with them since last year on a number of projects supporting the community. Wescom is continuing to celebrate its 85th anniversary and its ties to its Southern California community.

This is going to be a charming adventure following the Wescom float to The ROSE PARADE PRESENTED BY HONDA January 1, 2020.  We will be right there sharing all the charming updates and progress of the float as it gets decorated, judged and viewed after the parade.

I loved meeting the Tournament of Roses 2020 Royal Court.  To my right was the official Queen of Pasadena (Camille Kennedy) and she was kind enough to lend me her rose for a photo. Royal Court members get opportunities to connect with and give back to the local community and these lovely women were the utmost charming.

Make sure to check out the “Charm Calendar” to view events open to the public. The CharmCal is a curated guide featuring local events like popups, grand openings, free museum days, farmer’s markets, and workshops.

Dec 31th – Float Judging Day

This day was magical because we got to see the float in dress rehearsal with music and riders. The judging took all but 5 min. but when we heard the bell ring we knew it was official! Jessica from Wescom got goosebumps and Tamar picked the best song that the judges were dancing to,  MY HOUSE by Flo Rida.

“Open up the champagne, pop!
It’s my house, come on, turn it up
Hear a knock on the door and the night begins
‘Cause we done this before so you come on in
Make yourself at my home, tell me where you been
Pour yourself something cold, baby, cheers to this”

Jan 1st – The 131st Rose Parade

What an honor it has been to follow the journey of The Wescom Float from The Tournament of Roses House to float decor to the 131st RoseParade!

What an experience: The Charm Team got up at 3:30 am to meet our favorite Wescom Ladies on Orange Grove. Tamar brought coffee and the sunrise was gorgeous. In fact, it was the most beautiful day in Pasadena! My husband and son met us later and we watched the float ride by and cheered it on!

POST PARADE: ? ???????? ?? ??????

January 2, 2020 | E Sierra Madre Blvd & E Washington Blvd Pasadena, CA 91107 United States

We got to see The Wescom float  “Better Together: Hope Creates Community” one last time! Wescom had a booth where you could hold up a sign and write your New Years Resolutions – they took a polaroid and stuck it to the wall! *Any chance to take a polaroid photo, I’m in and my son loved it!

??? ????: The Blue Wescom truck perched up on the float was originally a vintage coke truck.

We enjoyed seeing this incredible work up close! If you get a chance next year here are a few tips: Grab your friends and wear comfortable walking shoes! Viewing all the floats will require walking a distance of approximately 2.5 miles and will take at least two hours.

Location: End of Parade route on Sierra Madre Blvd

Admission: $20 (free for ages 5 and under). Tickets sales end between 2:30-3PM.

THAT’S A WRAP, CHARMERS!
